Cecil Upshaw, relieving his cousin, George Stone, retired Deron Johnson with the bases loaded and two out in the ninth inning to save the Braves' 5-2 victory over the Phillies. Johnson had homered in the fifth inning to tie the score at 2-2. The Braves broke the deadlock with a two-run double by Mike Lum in their half and added an insurance run in the sixth when Sonny Jackson singled and Zoilo Versalles doubled. [The Sporting News]
