Chuck Dobson posted his eighth straight victory on a five-hit performance as the Athletics defeated the White Sox, 4-2. The A's scored all their runs in the second inning. Tommy Davis was safe on an error and crossed the plate on singles by Sal Bando and Dave Duncan.

Larry Brown, who finished the game with four hits, doubled to drive in Bando. A sacrifice fly by Dick Green scored Duncan and, after Dobson grounded out, Angel Mangual singled to admit Brown. Bill Melton and Mike Andrews homered for the White Sox. [The Sporting News]
