. . . where the 1970s live forever!

With a crowd of 43,433 on hand for Old-Timers' Day, the Yankees scored three runs in the eighth inning to defeat the Red Sox, 5-3. Sonny Siebert, who had a 3-2 lead, was lifted in the eighth after giving up a single by Horace Clarke.

With Sparky Lyle relieving, Jerry Kenney sacrificed and Bobby Murcer walked. After Roy White struck out, Lyle threw a wild pitch on the fourth ball to Ron Swoboda, Clarke scoring from second base. Murcer reached third and Swoboda took second. Lyle then walked Felipe Alou intentionally before giving way to Bobby Bolin. Danny Cater batted for Jake Gibbs and rapped Bolin's first pitch for a single, driving in two runs. [The Sporting News]
