Pat Dobson helped himself to his eighth straight victory, driving in the deciding run with a single in the seventh inning, as the Orioles edged the Angels, 4-3. Frank Robinson homered with a man on base for the Orioles in the first inning.

After the Angels tied the score in the third, the Orioles broke away in the seventh. Davey Johnson singled, took third on a single by Mark Belanger and crossed the plate on a wild pitch by Andy Messersmith. Dobson then hit his single to score Belanger. [The Sporting News]
