After falling behind by six runs, the Cubs came storming back to defeat the Phillies, 7-6. Homers by Willie Montanez and Joe Lis helped the Phils to their early lead.

The Cubs picked up a counter in the third inning and then exploded for six runs in the fourth. Joe Pepitone ignited the outburst with a homer. Don Kessinger and Glenn Beckert contributed successive triples. Billy Williams singled to score Beckert with the deciding run. [The Sporting News]
