Backed by the Cubs' 16-hit attack, Fergie Jenkins turned in his 17th complete game of the season and beat the Phillies, 11-2, for his 14th victory. Jenkins also made it a big day by hitting a homer.

Ron Santo hit a homer and single, and Glenn Beckert contributed four singles. Willie Montanez accounted for the Phillies' runs with a circuit clout in the ninth inning. [The Sporting News]
