Tearing a tight game apart, the Reds erupted for five runs in the seventh and defeated the Dodgers, 7-1. With the score tied, 1-1, Tony Perez walked and Johnny Bench and George Foster singled to load the bases.

Tommy Helms cleared the sacks with a double. Woody Woodward also doubled, scoring Helms. One out later, Pete Rose hit the Reds' third double of the inning to count Woodward. [The Sporting News]
