Tom Seaver ended his personal four-game losing streak by pitching the Mets to a 5-1 victory over the Cubs. Bud Harrelson opened the game for the Mets by beating out a bunt and Ken Boswell smashed a homer. Tommie Agee also bunted safely, stole the next two bases and scored on a single by Donn Clendenon.

Agee homered on his next two appearances in the third and fifth innings. Chris Cannizzaro hit for the circuit to produce the Cubs' counter. [The Sporting News]
