Ken Henderson led off the 10th inning with his second triple of the game and scored on a single by Jimmy Rosario to give the Giants an 8-7 victory over the Pirates. The Giants jumped on Dock Ellis for six runs in the first with their hits including Henderson's first triple and doubles by Bobby Bonds and Rosario.

Juan Marichal, who started for the Giants, was the victim of three unearned runs in the first but held a 7-3 lead going into the ninth but was knocked out when the Pirates rallied to tie the score. [The Sporting News]
