Pat Dobson gained his 10th straight victory when the Orioles defeated the Angels, 4-3, on a run-scoring single by Elrod Hendricks with the bases loaded in the ninth inning. Merv Rettenmund singled, Davey Johnson bunted and was safe on a throwing error by Rudy May and Mark Belanger beat out a bunt to fill the sacks before Hendricks came up as the pinch-hitter for Andy Etchebarren.
