The Red Sox, after rallying for three runs in the eighth inning to tie the score, broke loose for three more in the ninth to defeat the Twins, 6-3. A double by George Scott, single by Duane Josephson, sacrifice fly by Gary Peters and homer by John Kennedy provided the tying tallies.

In the ninth, Reggie Smith doubled and, after a one-out pass to Rico Petrocelli, scored the go-ahead run on a single by Scott. Joe Lahoud then tripled to drive in two extra counters. [The Sporting News]
