Fergie Jenkins singled and scored the winning run in the eighth inning to help himself to his 16th victory as the Cubs defeated the Philles, 2-1. After hitting his single, Jenkins advanced on a sacrifice by Don Kessinger. With two out, the Phillies chose to pass Billy Williams intentionally, but Jim Hickman upset the apple cart with a single, scoring Jenkins. [The Sporting News]
