Jim York, the Royals' rookie righthander, not only pitched eight innings of one-hit relief but also smashed a three-run homer in a 6-1 victory over the Indians. York took over after Bill Butler walked the first three batters in the second inning. Alan Foster grounded into a forceout, a run scoring, but York retired the next two batters and held the Indians completely in cheek the rest of the way, except for a single by Graig Nettles in the fifth.
