. . . where the 1970s live forever!

The White Sox used the pitching of Wilbur Wood in the first game and a 14-hit attack in the second game to defeat the Senators in a doubleheader, 5-1 and 9-6. Pat Kelly batted in two runs with a double and Bill Melton hit a homer in the White Sox' support of Wood. Del Unser homered to account for the Senators' run off Wood, who pitched a five-hitter.

In the nightcap, the White Sox had two homers by Rick Reichardt and one by Tom Egan, plus four doubles. The Senators collected 12 hits, including homers by Frank Howard, Don Mincher, Lenny Randle and Tommy McCraw. [The Sporting News]
