. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Sam McDowell, who had a 15-4 record at this time last year, gained his 10th victory of the current season against 10 defeats when the Indians nipped the Angels, 4-3. After Ken McMullen hit a two-run homer to give the Angels a 2-1 lead in the sixth inning, the Indians bounced back for three runs in their half.

Walks to Ken Suarez and Ted Uhlaender, around a passed ball and sacrifice, set the stage for the first run when Sandy Alomar booted a grounder by Eddie Leon. Vada Pinson singled, scoring Uhlaender. Leon took third and counted the deciding run on a sacrifice fly by Graig Nettles. Jim Spencer homered for the Angels in the seventh. [The Sporting News]
