Brooks Robinson committed three errors in a game for the first time in his career, but Frank Robinson came to the rescue of his Oriole teammate and smashed a three-run homer in the ninth inning to beat the Athletics, 3-2. In the fifth inning, Blue Moon Odom drew a walk for the A's. Bert Campaneris beat out a grounder in the hole to Brooks Robinson, who threw wildly to first for an error, Odom reaching third and Campaneris going to second.

George Hendrick then tapped a grounder to Robinson, who not only fumbled the ball but also threw wildly for two errors on one play as Odom and Campaneris scored. In the Orioles' ninth, Don Buford and Merv Rettenmund hit singles. Rollie Fingers replaced Odom and, on his first pitch, Frank Robinson swung for his homer. [The Sporting News]
