Tony Taylor drove in three runs with a pinch-double in the eighth inning to bring the Tigers a 4-3 victory over the Angels. The Tigers had a homer by Gates Brown but trailed, 3-1, going into the eighth when they started their rally with singles by Bill Freehan and Al Kaline.

After Kevin Collins forced Kaline, Dick McAuliffe walked to load the bases. The Angels brought in lefthander Dave LaRoche as the replacement for Andy Messersmith to face Dalton Jones, but Taylor batted for Jones and delivered his double. [The Sporting News]
