The Yankees scored five runs on only one hit -- a bases-loaded double by Danny Cater -- to tie the score in the eighth inning and then added two runs in the ninth to beat the Twins, 11-9. Five walks and a wild pitch produced two tallies in the eighth before Cater capped the rally with a three-run double.

In the ninth, Horace Clarke walked, took second on a sacrifice and counted the tie-breaking run on a single by Gene Michael. Thurman Munson doubled to drive in Michael with an extra marker. [The Sporting News]
