Pat Dobson extended his personal winning streak to 12 games by pitching the Orioles to a 4-0 victory over the Royals. The triumph was his 15th of the season, one more than the righthander achieved all last year with the Padres.

The Orioles gave Dobson an adequate cushion in the first inning when singles by Mark Belanger and Boog Powell, a forceout by Frank Robinson, single by Merv Rettenmund and double by Brooks Robinson produced three runs. [The Sporting News]
