Bill Singer ended a personal four-game losing streak with his first victory since June 12 and posted his first shutout of the season, pitching the Dodgers past the Astros, 3-0. The Dodgers pinned the defeat on Jack Billingham with two runs in the fourth inning on a walk to Dick Allen, singles by Willie Crawford and Jim Lefebvre and a sacrifice fly by Steve Garvey.
