Breaking up a 17-inning game, Darrell Evans drove in Sonny Jackson with a single to give the Braves a 2-1 victory over the Mets in a four-hour, 23-minute marathon. The Braves scored their initial run in the third on singles by Marty Perez, Tom Kelley and Hank Aaron.

The Mets' tally counted in the fifth on singles by Bob Aspromonte and Ken Harrelson around an infield out. Jackson singled in the 17th, took second on a sacrifice by Felix Millan and scored on Evans' hit. The Braves executed six double plays. [The Sporting News]
