An extra-base attack that included homers by Willie Stargell, Jose Pagan and Al Oliver powered the Pirates to a 7-2 victory over the Expos. Gene Alley joined in the attack with two triples and Bruce Kison, who pitched the route, doubled for his first major league hit.

However, the victory was costly for the Pirates. After his homer in the third inning, Jose Pagan came to bat again in the fifth and suffered a fracture of his left forearm when hit by a pitched ball. [The Sporting News]
