Pat Dobson's string of 12 straight victories was snapped by the Yankees, who kayoed the righthander in the fourth inning and defeated the Orioles, 12-3. Dobson had pitched nine consecutive complete games and extended his streak of scoreless pitching to 23 innings before the Yankees picked up a run in the second.

Then, in the fourth, Bobby Murcer and Ron Blomberg singled and Felipe Alou hit a sacrifice fly to break a 1-1 tie. Horace Clarke, Gene Michael and Fritz Peterson followed with singles to chase Dobson. Danny Cater greeted Jackson with a triple to cap the outburst. Bobby Murcer hit a three-run homer off Grant Jackson in the sixth. [The Sporting News]
