Mickey Lolich pitched his 18th complete game of the season and gained his 18th victory as the Tigers defeated the Red Sox, 8-2. Willie Horton and Aurelio Rodriguez led the Tigers' 13-hit attack.

Rodriguez homered with a man on base in the second inning and drove in another run with a single in the fourth. Horton hammered a homer with two aboard in the sixth. [The Sporting News]
