Harmon Killebrew hit the 500th and 501st homers of his career, but the Twins nevertheless lost to the Orioles, 4-3, in 10 innings. Killebrew became the 10th man in major league history to reach the 500 homer mark when the slugger connected off Mike Cuellar in the first inning.

His second smash of the game came with a man on base in the sixth and tied the score at 3-3. Cuellar, who had lost four straight decisions, was able to gain his first win since July 8 when Merv Rettenmund homered for the Orioles in the 10th. [The Sporting News]
