Continuing as the surprise of the Cubs' pitching staff, Juan Pizarro yielded only five hits and beat the Pirates, 2-1, for his third straight complete-game victory. Bob Robertson homered in the fourth inning for the only run off the veteran lefthander. The Cubs broke through for their runs off Bruce Kison in the seventh. Jim Hickman led off with a double, Ron Santo walked and Brock Davis was safe when his bunt was fumbled by Kison. J.C. Martin tied the score with a sacrifice fly. Santo, tagging up, advanced to third and scored the winning run on a sacrifice fly by Pizarro. [The Sporting News] |
