Jim Palmer yielded only four hits and had the support of three homers in pitching the Orioles to an 8-2 victory over the Twins. The Orioles exploded for three runs before anyone was retired in the first inning.

Don Buford homered on Jim Kaat's first pitch of the game, Paul Blair singled and Merv Rettenmund also hit for the circuit. Andy Etchebarren homered for three of the Orioles' four runs in the eighth. Leo Cardenas rapped a round-tripper for the Twins. [The Sporting News]
