Strong pitching by Fritz Peterson and Mike Kekich escorted the Yankees to 3-0 and 2-1 victories in a twi-night doubleheader with the Angels. The second game was decided in the 11th inning when Gene Michael, batting for Kekich, doubled and Bobby Murcer singled to drive him home. Kekich allowed only four hits before stepping out for Murcer.

Peterson scattered nine hits in the opener and turned in his fifth straight complete game. Roy White backed Peterson with three hits and drove in two runs. [The Sporting News]
