After serving up a homer to Reggie Smith in the first inning, Dick Drago held the Red Sox scoreless the rest of the way with the aid of five double plays and pitched the Royals to a 5-1 victory. The complete game was the seventh straight for Drago.

Lou Piniella led the Royals at bat, driving in three runs with a homer and single. Freddie Patek also contributed a homer to the Kaycee attack. [The Sporting News]
