Sparked by Willie Mays, who hit a single, double and triple before leaving the game after five innings, the Giants defeated the Mets, 7-3. Mays drove in a run with his double in the fourth, stole third and scored on a sacrifice fly by Dave Kingman.

Dick Dietz homered to add two more runs. In the fifth, Mays tripled and counted on another sacrifice fly by Kingman. Al Gallagher homered for the Giants in the eighth. [The Sporting News]
