Wilbur Wood outpitched Pat Dobson and gained his 15th victory of the season as the White Sox edged the Orioles, 2-1. The White Sox scored their initial run in the first inning on a pass to Walt Williams, forceout by Jay Johnstone and triple by Bill Melton.

The Orioles pulled even with two out in the fifth when Frank Robinson singled and scored from first base on a double by Boog Powell. Johnstone doubled in the sixth and scored the deciding run on a single by Steve Huntz. [The Sporting News]
