The Mets broke their five-game losing streak behind the pitching of Tom Seaver, who shut out the Dodgers, 6-0, and extended his scoreless streak to 27 innings, setting the Mets' club record. Seaver also had held the former mark of 26 zeroes in a row, estabished early this season. The Mets were handcuffed by Doyle Alexander until the sixth inning when they broke away with four runs, two scoring on a single by Ken Boswell with the bases loaded. [The Sporting News]
