Posting the first shutout of his major league career, Ernie McAnally pitched the Expos to an 11-0 victory over the Padres. McAnally yielded four hits while the Expos collected 12, including a bases-loaded triple by Bob Bailey in the fifth inning.

Ron Hunt was hit by pitched balls twice and, after the second incident, the Expos' infielder engaged in a battle with catcher Bob Barton of the Padres, leading to Hunt's ejection from the game. [The Sporting News]
