Bases-loaded hits by Elrod Hendricks and Davey Johnson were the key blows as the Orioles scored all their runs in the sixth inning to defeat the Brewers, 6-4. Merv Rettenmund started the uprising with a single, Paul Blair was safe on an error and Frank Robinson walked to load the bases. Hendricks singled to drive in two runs.

Following a pass to Brooks Robinson that reloaded the sacks, Johnson batted in two runs with a double. After another walk to Mark Belanger, Brooks Robinson beat the throw home on a grounder by Mike Cuellar. An infield out by Rettenmund, up for a second time, plated the final tally.
