. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Milt Pappas, appearing against his former club for the first time since being traded June 25, 1970, pitched the Cubs to a 7-2 victory over the Braves. Johnny Callison, batting only .195, clinched the decision for Pappas with a grand slam.

Homers by Billy Williams for the Cubs and Earl Williams for the Braves helped bring a 2-2 tie before the Cubs broke away in the eighth inning. After a single by Cleo James with the bases loaded drove in the tie-breaking tally, Callison connected for the Cubs' first grand slam of the season. [The Sporting News]
