After waiting out a two-hour, nine-minute delay because of rain in the first inning, the Twins scored three runs in the second and went on to defeat the Indians, 4-2. Steve Braun walked and scored on singles by Jim Nettles and George Mitterwald, both of whom then crossed plate on a double by Cesar Tovar. Tony Oliva homered for the Twins' last run in the eighth.
