Exploding with an extra-base attack, the Senators scored seven runs in the eighth inning and defeated the Athletics, 10-3. Dave Nelson doubled, Don Mincher walked and Frank Howard doubled for the first run to break a 3-3 tie.

After Bernie Allen walked to load the bases, Jeff Burroughs drove in two runs with a single, Paul Casanova doubled to produce another run and Tim Cullen tripled to add the fifth and sixth markers. Cullen scored the seventh run on an infield out by Pete Broberg. Nelson, up for a second time, hit a triple but was stranded as the outburst ended. [The Sporting News]
