Exploding with an extra-base attack, the Senators scored seven runs in the eighth inning and defeated the Athletics, 10-3. Dave Nelson doubled, Don Mincher walked and Frank Howard doubled for the first run to break a 3-3 tie.

After Bernie Allen walked to load the bases, Jeff Burroughs drove in two runs with a single, Paul Casanova doubled to produce another run and Tim Cullen tripled to add the fifth and sixth markers.
