Roy Foster hit the first grand slam of his major league career for the Indians' most potent blow in a 9-4 victory over the White Sox, who were halted on their six-game winning streak. Ted Uhlaender and Vada Pinson singled for the Indians in the first inning, but Uhlaender was out trying to score on a single by Ray Fosse. Graig Nettles then walked to load the bases, setting the stage for Foster's slam.

As it turned out, that would have not been enough to win, but the Indians added an unearned run in the second and clinched their victory when Chris Chambliss homered with two men on base in the third. [The Sporting News]
