Mickey Lolich became a 20-game winner for the first time in his career when the Tigers' southpaw defeated the Brewers, 7-2. This is Lolich's 13th season in O. B. and ninth year with the Tigers.

Andy Kosco accounted for the Brewers' runs with a homer in the first inning, but the Tigers took command with four runs in the third on a triple by Aurelio Rodriguez, single by Ed Brinkman, pass to Lolich and homer by Dick McAuliffe. [The Sporting News]
