The Pirates, after winning the first game of a twi-night doubleheader, 4-3, exploded for 19 hits in the second game and walloped the Braves, 15-4. The Pirates copped the lidlifter with three unearned runs in the sixth inning. With the score tied, 1-1, Willie Stargell walked with two out. Bob Robertson was safe on an error, Manny Sanguillen tripled and then counted himself on a passed ball. Hank Aaron and Darrell Evans homered for the Braves.

Al Oliver led the Pirates' attack in the nightcap with five hits, including two homers and a triple, driving in five runs. Robertson and Roberto Clemente also hit round-trippers for the the Pirates, while the Braves had circuit clouts by Earl Williams and Mike Lum. [The Sporting News]
