Piling up their season high of 21 hits, the Pirates defeated the Braves, 13-6. The Pirates broke on top with six runs on eight singles in the first inning. After hits by Rennie Stennett, Al Oliver and Roberto Clemente loaded the bases, the next two batters struck out, but five straight singles followed by Milt May, Dave Cash, Jackie Hernandez, Bruce Kison and Stennett.

Willie Stargell and Bob Robertson hit back-to-back homers in the second, Stargell's blow coming with a man on base. Clemente finished the game with five singles in six trips. Hank Aaron homered for the sixth time in a stretch of six games for the Braves to raise his career total to 630. [The Sporting News]
