The pitching of Milt Pappas and batting of Billy Williams combined to give the Cubs a 3-0 victory over the Braves. Pappas allowed only five hits in earning his fifth shutout of the season.

The victory was his 16th, equalling his major league career high. Williams knocked in two runs with a triple in the third inning and added the other tally with a homer in the sixth. [The Sporting News]
