. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Paul Splittorff, the Royals' rookie southpaw, pitched a three-hitter for his third shutout of the season and beat the Yankees, 4-0. The Royals settled Stan Bahnsen's fate with two runs in the third inning, taking advantage of three walks issued by the Yankee starter.

Freddie Patek singled, Joe Keough walked and Amos Otis singled for the first run. After a groundout by Gail Hopkins, Lou Piniella was passed intentionally to load the bases. Bahnsen then passed Paul Schaal to force in Keough. [The Sporting News]
