The Dodgers bunched two walks and three hits for three runs in the third inning to defeat the Astros, 3-2. Bobby Valentine and Bill Buckner drew passes and Willie Davis beat out an infield hit to load the bases.

Dick Allen singled, driving in two runs, and a third counted on a single by Jim Lefebvre. The Astros rallied for two runs against Al Downing in the eighth before Jim Brewer took over to save the game. [The Sporting News]
