A three-run homer by Bob Bailey and two-run drive by Steve Renko, who was the winning pitcher, led the Expos to a 6-2 victory over the Cubs. Bill Hands held the Expos in check until the sixth inning when they scored their first run on a double by Rusty Staub and single by Ron Fairly. Jim Fairey followed with a single and Bailey then hit his homer.

Renko connected for the circuit after John Bateman was safe on an error in the eighth. Glenn Beckert homered for the Cubs' runs in the home half of the eighth before Mike Marshall replaced Renko. [The Sporting News]
