Three unearned runs provided the Athletics with their margin in a 4-1 victory over the Angels. After the Angels scored in the first inning on a safe bunt by Mickey Rivers, a stolen base and single by Jim Spencer, an error by Jim Fregosi enabled the A's to tie the score in their half.
