John Cumberland beat the Braves for the third straight time this season as the Giants took advantage of errors to score three unearned runs in a 4-0 victory. Singles by Tito Fuentes and Bobby Bonds, two throwing errors by Ralph Garr and a sacrifice fly by Willie McCovey produced a pair of tainted tallies for the Giants in the first inning.

McCovey doubled and scored on a single by Al Gallagher in the third, Gallagher took second on an error by Earl Williams on the throw to the plate and counted on a single by Chris Speier. [The Sporting News]
