. . . where the 1970s live forever!

After a wild beginning that saw a total of 14 runs score in the first two innings, the Pirates settled down to defeat the Phillies, 10-7. The Phillies stepped off with two runs in the first, but the Pirates struck back with six hits for five runs in their half. In the second, Ron Stone hit a two-run homer for the Phillies to knock out Dock Ellis and, after Bob Moose relieved, Deron Johnson also hit a two-run homer.

The Pirates came back immediately with three runs in their half on a single by Gene Clines, walk to Roberto Clemente, Clines' theft of third, a sacrifice fly by Willie Stargell and homer by Manny Sanguillen. The Pirates then scored only two more runs the rest of the way, while Luke Walker, who pitched the last six innings and was the winner, held the Phillies to one run on just two hits.
