Ending slugging drouths, George Scott smashed two homers and Carl Yastrzemski and uane Josephson whacked one apiece as the Red Sox defeated the Indians, 9-2, behind the pitching of Roger Moret, who turned in his second straight complete-game victory. Yastrzemski's homer was his first since August 2.

Scott had gone without a circuit clout since August 16 and Josephson since August 17. Gomer Hodge, pinch-hitting for the Indians in the seventh inning, rapped his first major league homer. [The Sporting News]
