The Indians, who were held to one hit in the first five innings, broke loose with four runs in the sixth and exploded for seven more in the seventh to defeat the Red Sox, 11-9. Ted Uhlaender and Vada Pinson hit doubles and Roy Foster and Chris Chambliss clouted homers in the sixth.

The Indians sent 10 men to bat in the seventh and scored on a double by Fred Stanley, singles by Uhlaender and Pinson, double by Foster, singles by Chambliss and Graig Nettles and a homer by Ray Fosse.
